Pelz, the physicist turned golf researcher and teach, has helped golfers of all ability levels lower their scores. Countless amateurs attest to that. So do leading professionals Beth Daniel, Lee Janzen, Phil Mickelson, Se Ri Pak, Vijay Singh, Annika Sorenstam and Mike Weir!

Play our stunningly beautiful Par 3 or at one of the courses which offers our members and guest preferred rates — Manitou Passage Golf Culb, Champion Hills, Pinecroft Golf Plantation and Mistwood.

Manitou Passage Golf Course an Arnold Palmer signature course was redesigned by Palmer and rebuilt to become a destination course. It now offers five traditional tee boxes, strategically placed hazards, lush fairways and exceptional greens in one of the region’s most spectacular natural settings. To complement that, there’s unmatched service on the course and in the all-new clubhouse. The course is located just south of the Manitou Passage on M-22 between Glen Arbor and Leland. When you visit, you’ll enjoy commanding views of the Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Manitou Islands while being engaged in a captivating interlude with one of America’s most treasured natural environments. That tranquil feeling will allow you to relax and enjoy extensive outdoor spaces including terraces, gardens, waterfalls, a fireplace, labyrinth and pool. Those spaces and the views from them create a serene and welcoming retreat that’s far, far away from the everyday.

So you’ll enjoy quiet waters and won’t get hooked with extra charges. When the work day’s done, you can be in, along or above a really big pond, Lake Michigan – here or in the adjoining Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

The winery and B&B has since undergone a 15,000 square foot expansion which increased the total rooms available to eleven. Located on a 65-acre estate on Old Mission Peninsula, in one of the most scenic areas of the Great Lakes, Chateau Chantal offers a unique Old World experience that combines vineyard and winery, B&B lodging and friendly company, all in a relaxing rural landscape featuring breathtaking views, local beaches, trails and quiet country roads. Our B&B guests enjoy exceptional amenities. From cozy rooms to spacious suites, featuring views of vineyards and fresh water, terrace or balcony, wet bar, whirlpool tub, high ceilings, and elegant furnishings. The inn itself offers fireplaces and sitting areas, ample breakfasts and attentive front desk staff.

Chateau Chantal was established in 1983, when cherry orchards were replaced with grafted vinifera grape vines – the same species of wine grape grown along other parts of the 45th parallel in the Bordeaux region of France.

Acreage is planted with Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Pinot Meunier. Wine grapes thrive in the unique micro-climate characteristic of this enviable area of the State. Our handcrafted wines are produced under our winemaker’s meticulous supervision from vineyard to bottle.

Treetops is the name by which all other courses in Michigan are measured. It is on the short list of the nation’s finest golf facilities. Dramatic views, contours and rolling terrain provide a beautiful setting for world-class golf. Treetops is truly the Midwest’s must play resort.

Home to 81 holes of championship golf. Five distinctly different courses by renowned designers Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Tom Fazio and Rick Smith offer arguably the best collection of golf anywhere in the country.

Robert Trent Jones, Sr. - Masterpiece

Robert Trent Jones, Sr.’s final design in Michigan is truly a masterpiece. In his own words, Jones claimed it as his crowning glory. The course is located at the headwaters of the Pigeon River and takes full advantage of natural valleys, ravines and broad plains. The signature sixth hole features a 120’ vertical drop and a panoramic view of the Pigeon River Valley.

Tom Fazio - Premier

Premier is the only course in Michigan designed by famed architect, Tom Fazio. The course makes the most of the rolling terrain, striking the perfect balance between challenge and forgiveness. When asked to name a signature hole, Fazio replied, “all of them.” Play a round on the Premier and we think you’ll agree.

Rick Smith - Signature

Rick Smith, renowned architect and golf instructor; set the bar high with Signature; his first 18-hole designed course. The course unfolds into a high upland area and features undulating greens and wide, forgiving fairways. Undisturbed natural areas are prominent on holes four and eleven. Signature has been rated a Top 50 Course for Women.

Rick Smith - Tradition

Tradition is Rick Smith’s walking course which pays homage to golf’s origin. The course is well named as it features “traditional” wooden pins and pennant flags. The links-style layout takes advantage of high ridges and hilltops, providing some sloping while still being walkable. Holes one through nine wrap back around to the starter house, allowing for nine-hole play

Rick Smith - Threetops

Threetops. Rick Smith’s first par three-designed course, has been receiving national recognition since it opened in 1992. It consistently ranks as the #1 par three course in America by Golf Magazine, Golfweek, Golf & Travel and several others and is perhaps the most recognized par three course in America. For a number of years, Threetops hosted the ESPN Par 3 Shootout. Lee Trevino recorded an ace on #7 during the Shootout in 2001. The course itself features elevated greens and tees with noticeable slopes.

Just this past May, taking advantage of the Pure Michigan special at the Grand and expecting a room overlooking the stables. Instead got a room overlooking the Lake with 2 comfy chairs in front of a picture window. I would have been happy to stay in that room in front of that window with THAT VIEW the whole vacation!

My husband and I visited the Grand two Labor Days ago. The buffet on Sunday was “out of this world”. But the best part was we took a carriage ride there, and crossed the porch into the hotel. Once in the hotel, I asked an empoyee about paying to be on the porch. She graciously told me, “You are here now” not once, but twice, before I got the message. Thank you for the Grand staff for being SO grand!

My favorite memory happened several years ago. I was having high tea in the lobby of the Grand Hotel in my evening gown with the musicians playing the theme from “Somewhere in Time.” I remember thinking “Pinch me! I must be dreaming!”

My favorite memory: My family joined me in the spring of 2007 - 08 during the policy conference. I taught the sunrise yoga program for the conference attendees on the porch of the Grand Hotel. The gorgeous view, immaculate landscaping, and the sound of morning birds provided a peaceful backdrop for our annual practice.

I worked at the Grand Hotel as a lifeguard and lived in the poolhouse during the summer of 1998. It was one of the best summers of my life. I met my husband at the Grand - he worked on the greens crew. And now we live happily ever after, watching Somewhere in Time on each wedding anniversary.

One of the best vacations we had. We had a suite which was fantastic over looking the bridge, pool, and garden. Want to go back soon.

Spent Mother’s Day weekend there and we will be back in 2 weeks. I love the High Tea, breakfast, friendly staff, beautiful view and seeing familar faces year after year in the shops, salon, staff. I also love eating at the Woods and Gate House. Best whitefish!!! and love their new menu.

Stayed there for the Win Some Women conference. We got to sleep in the Somewhere in Time suite! Super awesome and great food there!!

My three-day stay last week was wonderful… the stress of life melts away like ice sculptures in the sun.

A stay at Grand Hotel is always the highlight of the summer. It’s wonderful. Mackinac Island is such a magical place.

Love it. Stayed there well over a dozen times. Never been disappointed. The ambiance that surrounds the grand, is simply GRAND. Dressing up for dinner is what makes it so unique (and for those of you who do not know, it is the only time you have to be dressed up). Most of us simple folks don’t do that often enough. And believe it or not, most … people who stay at the grand are simple folks. Not stuffy or stuck up. Just looking for an “old” and “unique” place to get away. It’s not the only great place on the island as we have stayed at several other B&B’s, we even rented a home there last summer for a month. It’s all good. The island has so many great places to explore. But the grand always lives up to it’s name, GRAND.

Horseback riding, swimming, tennis, bike riding, movie watching, cards, dancing, dining, drinking, sitting on the worlds most beautiful porch, sight seeing at the fort, carriage ride, golf, duck pin bowling, ping pong, etc, etc, etc, one of the most beautiful places on earth!

My parents and I use to spend each summer month at the Grand Hotel. During the filming of Somewhere In Time, I was given a handful of quarters, and strict instructions to meet my parents at the dinner hall on time. The elevators took forever, so I decided to take the stairs down to the lower lobby to the game room. When I was descending the stairs at full speed, I came around a corner and BOOM! I ran smack dab into a man. As I was apologizing, he helped me pick up my quarters that had scattered everywhere. I stood up to thank the man, and I was thanking Christopher Reeve himself.

This is one of the best…highly recommend…

I stayed in the Lighthouse Suite at the very top of the Hotel. It was the most amazing place to view everything! Everything is just first class at the Iroquois. The sheets are beautiful, the sitting room was just lovely. I have never stayed at The Grand, but my choice is The Iroquois! Wonderful memories! A MUST stay place for everyone!

I had my 40th birthday on the island and stayed at the Iroquois. The best! The room with all the windows is wonderful; perfect location for access to Main St. and a bit out of the crowds.

We enjoy sitting outside with a beverage watching the ships go by.

The rooms are lovely, views are perfect, staff is very accommodating… our favorite place in the whole world… We have stayed at least 15 times and wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else! Try a “boxed lunch” for your bike ride around the island :o)

Our family loves the Iroquois!! Our son worked at the Iroquois for 2 summers. Our favorite room is the Lighthouse Suite. It has the most beautiful views I had ever seen. We will stay there any this year I LOVE the Iroquois…and the island.
