Every meal is an event.

Throughout the history of Grand Hotel, dining has been one of the brightest highlights of the guest experience, and every meal is truly special, thanks to exceptional food, service and ambiance. A number of dining options are available, from the legendary Main Dining Room—which overlooks the Straits of Mackinac and where a coat and tie for gentlemen and dress or pantsuit for ladies is required after 6:30 p.m.—to the more casual The Gate House, The Jockey Club at the Grand Stand, Cawthorne’s Village Inn and Carleton’s Tea Store. Most weekend packages feature the Modified American Plan, which includes a full breakfast and five-course dinner daily. The Full American Plan includes a full breakfast, Grand Luncheon Buffet and five-course dinner daily.

Carriage House – Hotel Iroquois – Mackinac Island

The award-winning Carriage House is an island-wide favorite. Come for Chef Greg Murphy’s classic American cuisine, stay for the signature Iroquois hot fudge.

The Finest Mackinac Island Waterfront Dining

Under the direction of Chef Greg Murphy, the Carriage House Dining Room is known island-wide for its fine classic American cuisine. Local seafood selections such as Carriage House Whitefish from Lake Superior and Sautéed Perch from Lake Erie are paired with fresh salads, soups and desserts topped with signature Iroquois Hot Fudge.

Directly overlooking the Straits of Mackinac, guests enjoy flawless service in our glass-enclosed dining room or on one of our breezy outdoor waterfront verandas. The restaurant features an extensive wine list, full bar and nightly entertainment at the piano bar.

The Carriage House serves dinner June 12 through October 11 and lunch June 12 through September 13.

Kids Eat Free! Guests staying at the Chippewa Hotel age ten and under can enjoy a complimentary breakfast from the children’s menu during each morning of their stay when accompanied by an adult.

Throughout the day – Children can enjoy making their selections from the special Children’s Menu. Meals created just for them at a child size price.

Woods – Mackinac Island

Woods Restaurant will close for the season following dinner on Sunday, October 8.

Woods Restaurant is located a short, scenic horse-drawn carriage ride into the wooded interior of Mackinac Island. This opulent Tudor mansion with Bavarian charm provides a unique casual dining experience for all Mackinac Island visitors. Before or after dinner enjoy freshly popped popcorn and test your skill on America’s oldest operating duckpin bowling alley. You may also enjoy before and after dinner drinks at Bobby’s Bar opening at 11:00 a.m. daily. The dinner menu includes appetizers, soups, salads, entrees (many with a Bavarian flair), and desserts with a children’s menu also available. You will not want to miss the Austrian Steak soup!

Reservations are recommended for dinner. Please call 906-847-3699. You can make taxi reservations to Woods at the Concierge desk. If you are traveling to Woods from another location other than Grand Hotel carriage transportation is available on Main Street in front of the Star Line Dock. Please call Mackinac Island Carriage Tours for pick-up times.

Woods Restaurant is an award winning restaurant earning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence in 2015 and 2016.

Overnight guests of Grand Hotel on the Modified American Plan receive a $20.00 per adult credit towards the food portion of their bill. Tipping is expected at Woods Restaurant.

Horn’s Gaslight Bar & Restaurant – Mackinac Island

Horn’s Gaslight Bar & Restaurant is best known as one of the island’s night spots, but it is also a favorite for Mexican/southwestern dishes, along with traditional American fare. (Check out the Menu.)
