Part III of our trip; Mackinac Island.
The kids first time visiting the island. It was an incredible day filled with butterfly encounters, insect exploration, horse carriages, garden play, lots of fudge, and so much adventure.

I’ve had such a fun time exploring the beer scene on the west side of Michigan! So many great breweries, great people and great beer!! I’ll have a whole blog post on them, but brewery4two4 is doing some fantastic beers! I was lucky enough to try this rotating flight with my favorite being their Under the bridge Brown. Such a tough decision with such a great lineup of beer. It’s a traditional brown with milk sugar and mackinaw island fudge coffee 😋 it’s light and low ABV so you can have a couple, yet packed with flavor! Incredible how much flavor Dave gets into this beer! I’ll be enjoying my to-go cans back in Chicago!!😋😋 Give them a follow if you love unique beers!
We biked 🚲 • We hiked 🥾 • We fudged 🍫 • We watched others get soaked 🛥💦

DO TELL! Do you have a strong opinion when it comes to food and drinks made in Michigan ? If so, play along on this little game of This or That?
I'll go first! Mackinac Island Fudge, paczki, and Detroit Style Pizza are no-brainers for me. I love them all and would hands down pick each one if forced to choose.
The drink decision is a hard one for me though, as I don't really like either of the choices. Sorry. 😩 Growing up, Vernors was the only pop my Grandma had at her house, and she always insisted on pouring me a glass when we visited. However, I was not a fan of ginger ale and it would take me quite long to drink it, which did not get any better the longer it sat and the warmer it got. 😉 We always had Faygo in our house growing up, but flavors such as red pop, grape or rock & rye did nothing for me. Today, if a Faygo diet-cola was in the mix, that would be my choice.
Shoutout to puremichigan from whom we "borrowed" this idea who played their game bracket-style in honor of March Madness.
DO TELL! This or That? What are your Michigan food/drink favorites?

IYKYK - if you’ve ever been to Mackinac Island you know it’s gotta be one of the best places on earth to get fudge!
A few weeks ago, Jeannie Grates posted she was heading to this iconic place in the UP - the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
I casually asked her to get me some fudge, and she graciously did so. It’s been 40+ years since I had Murdick's Famous Fudge and it is just as awesome as I remember it. Thank you, Jeannie!

This is one of the best…highly recommend…
I stayed in the Lighthouse Suite at the very top of the Hotel. It was the most amazing place to view everything! Everything is just first class at the Iroquois. The sheets are beautiful, the sitting room was just lovely. I have never stayed at The Grand, but my choice is The Iroquois! Wonderful memories! A MUST stay place for everyone!
I had my 40th birthday on the island and stayed at the Iroquois. The best! The room with all the windows is wonderful; perfect location for access to Main St. and a bit out of the crowds.
We enjoy sitting outside with a beverage watching the ships go by.
The rooms are lovely, views are perfect, staff is very accommodating… our favorite place in the whole world… We have stayed at least 15 times and wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else! Try a “boxed lunch” for your bike ride around the island :o)
Our family loves the Iroquois!! Our son worked at the Iroquois for 2 summers. Our favorite room is the Lighthouse Suite. It has the most beautiful views I had ever seen. We will stay there any this year I LOVE the Iroquois…and the island.
The hotel is amazing, staff is wonderful, The Carriage House is FABULOUS! Breakfast on the veranda every morning was our favorite memory…
My Husband, and I Love the Iroquois! I love the decor, the location, everything!!! We have GREAT memories from there!
This is the hotel where Joe and I spent our honeymoon, in 1976! We had a corner room, with a wonderful view of the Mackinac Bridge. It was very beautiful, and we have many, many fond memories of that time in our lives.
